NAINA……

It moves up and down….focusing on the center it takes a sharp turn left….don’t confuse the movements with a car or a vehicle on the road….they are eyes navigating through the storybook of life…..

They are used for expressing emotions of different kinds be it anger, love, happiness, jealousy….you name it and there it is …your heart through your eyes….

नयन.......
नयन…….

But many people are not able to visualize the beauty from their eyes
Today when I was flipping channels there was a movie scene that depicted the plight of a poor blind boy who needed money for his operation which could restore his eyesight but people around him were unwilling to donate for the cause. As per statistics:

India accounts for 20 per cent of global blind population

I remember a boy in my school who was visually impaired but a very talented student and a fabulous singer …the chords of his music could bring tear to any eyes and his voice had the sensation to lift the dullest spirit…and then there was my junior another beautiful soul who could not see colors of the world but could perfectly sense and predict a direction which my naked eye could not….my eyes even after visualizing the route could not remember direction but his senses could do the same.

Sometimes I ponder what more magic could have been possible if those eyes could see….

Cornea is the clear, transparent tissue covering the front of the eye and if it becomes cloudy from disease, injury, infection or malnutrition, vision is dramatically lost or reduced. Corneal blindness can be treated by replacing the damaged cornea by a healthy donated human cornea. The human cornea can be procured through eye donation.
More than 90% of the corneal transplantation is carried out successfully and helps restore vision in people with corneal blindness.

This wonderful gift of eye donation is not being practiced on a large scale in India and hence we continue to be a nation with one of the highest number of blinds.Eye donation are carried out by registered eye banks . Here are some of the facts about eye donation:
• Eyes should be donated within 6-8 hrs. of death.
• Anyone can be a donor, irrespective of age, sex, blood group or religion.
• Total removal time is about 15-20 minutes.
• Spectacle wearers, hypertensive and diabetics can also donate.
• There is no disfigurement of the donor’s face.
• Total procedure takes 15-20 minutes.
• Eyes can be donated even if the deceased had not formally pledged their eyes during their lifetime.
• The eye bank team will immediately reach the donor’s home to collect the eyes. This service is free.
• Eyes are never bought or sold.
• All religions endorse eye donation.

The dew on the morning grass and leaves, the colors of the rainbow, the steam of an engine, the shapes and patterns of a butterfly, the dancing of a peacock, a gleeful smile of a baby, the snow-capped mountains and the dazzling sea……all these are the little things which brightens my soul and my life and if I could share this vision even after my death wouldn’t it be amazing.

My eyes are a reflection of who I am and I want them to be immortal even when I am no more…..I want someone to see beauty through my eyes…..I want them to be alive and be part of someone else life 🙂 🙂
